a birthday gift

I finished up my birthday gift for a friend's daughter last night. I had originally started out as making a pillow cover but couldnt find the right size or shape of pillow form, so i decided to make a wall hanging for her room. She turns one tomorrow! Sorry about the bad lighting in the pictures, i took them at night and didnt have the daylight bulbs in...

i did two things i've never done this time...i used rick rack, and i made a hanging sleeve BEFORE i finished the project, haha. Also, it doesnt look as uneven as in the picture, i ironed again and its much better now.

So i finished up my table runner and wall hanging this week. I chose silver thread to quilt the table runner, and I love it! I've actually had this spool of silver thread for like a year and a half or something, but was afraid to use it b.c i wasnt sure how it'd go through my machine. It worked perfectly!

I've been geeking out with Supernatural, which they FINALLY added to Netflix. Ive started from the beginning again and am picking and choosing through my favorites and episodes i dont remember seeing.

I also started on a birthday gift for a friend's daughter who is turning one next week. I initially started with long skinny pillow idea, but didnt have the form on hand, so I'm not really sure what it will be when it's done. The letters are from a rainbow scrap attack project that i posted awhile back and didnt have any ideas for. I have a cute print with popsicles on the same blue as the background for an accent, once i decide what it will become!

Happy VDay.......... i made up some baskets of candy for my kids this morning. They will be excited when they get home from school to find more sugar waiting for them after just finishing their classroom parties :).

I've been working off and on the last week and a half on my scrap attack mini quilt and table runner. I have been giving my self "rewards" for studying, in the form of time to sew. Part of me is so ANNOYED that I'm not going to be graduating until...um. May 2014. Im trying to stay positive while focusing on the fact that once I finish, i have much better job security, as well as (hopefully) better pay and best of all, no need to go back to school ever again! LOL. Here's my progress.

Scrap Attack Progress

So here's my Scrap Attack progress, hopefully I wont procrastinate and get them posted to the flickr group today. I used only scraps from my own stash, and chose red, pink, aqua and royal blue as my color scheme. I seem to gravitate towards rich colors and bold prints so i had no trouble finding fabric to use for this mini project. Its a collage of postage stamps, each square around 2.5inches. Im calling it This time Imperfect, simply because i am really bad at matching seams. some look okay, but some rows are really off. Im okay with that. I dont sew to be perfect, and i normally am at least somewhat off my lines. Im also okay with that.

School and more school, work is getting more stressful and annoying, and i am starting to get that Spring itch.....luckily i have been finding some new music to help me from feeling too depressed. Civil Twilight has a new album coming in March, I downloaded Of Monsters and Men's EP and am loving Gotye's latest. anyway, here's the latest project.
