Celebrate Color...November

I made some pillows for our couch....thought I'd enter them into the last round of Celebrate Color photo pools for a chance to win some cool stuff! Go here! stitched in color

They had to be red, and i love medium sized prints and patterns, so these were perfect. Now, if we could just find our perfect couch to match! :)

where i sew...

thought I'd share where I sew....this is a corner of my bedroom, with just enough space for the stash and my machine. i usually do piecing on the floor and cutting on my dining room table. my sewing spot started off  in the basement until we started renovating, and then it was moved to the dining room which was so tiny i'd have to move the machine out from the wall in order to use it. So finally having a place for my stuff is awesome, even though some day I'd love to have an actual room for all of it...since none f my kids are in middle school yet- its a long way off!!

anyway....i finished up the xmas tree pants....and am on to pillows, xmas placemats and mug rugs.

*you can see my right shoe in both pictures. im often one shoe or slipper short since i am only comfortable sewing with my bare foot (or socked foot.)!

Halloween!

Halloween is in just a few short hours, and I thought I'd share our pumpkins...we opted to get one large pumpkin this year since carving them is tedious when you have 6 to do!
this is my husbands and  kids pumpkin, they thought a "straining face" was halarious. wait till you see the backside....
no comment.

Anyway. I had a nice relaxing weekend after a hellish work week. I finished up the mug rugs / coasters  for the kids teachers, and whipped up a Curious George  pillowcase for a neighbor's son.  I also started my Xmas Tree Pants! Yay.  Here's some photos.
crap. that came out sideways. oh well. you get the general idea. well...off to order some pizza!

Celebrate Color October!

So I love Rachel's blog, Celebrate Color. I love color- I still say my favorite color is rainbow, like I did when I was five. It's still true. Anyway, I decided to join in on her contest for Celebrate Color, using the season as inspiration. I made a mini quilt out of my scrap bin using my favorite fall colors...
Go on over to her blog to check it out!

my favorite number...

today is the 17th. 17 is my favorite number, and i cant really explain why, i just like it. any how, i've been finishing projects, and starting new ones. i finished my fabric pumpkins- i think i ended up making 10, though i think we have 6 left after handing some out to neighbors and teachers. I finally finished the rainbow quilt and though i like it, i dont love it. The binding turned out awful. It is a quilt to snuggle under, not a show quilt. Anyway, I did find some time to play with my Prince Charming fabric, and have an almost finished quilt top thanks to Katie @ I used her cross quilt idea to use up most of the charm packs I bought....

autumn...

the weather has been nice lately, though the trees seem to be waiting to change all the way to orange...Ive been wanting to get out and get some pictures, maybe this weekend. Anyway, i've been slaving away at the biochem, and trying to finish old projects. I've finished a random project I'm thinking might find it's way into the Celebrate Color blog...I'm also almost done w some fabric pumpkins I absolutely had to make. The rainbow quilt is next on the list to finish...then I'm going full force into xmas! Anyway, here are some Halloween placemats I made....in August. lol

afterdark

Check out Blaqk Audio's new song, Afterdark...coming out for the Batman video game...its pretty stellar. Sort of like Cities of Night. Certainly better than the Witness in my opinion.

In other news, the black cat has had his flea bath and i am sincerely hoping that this will be the end of this nightmare.

Watched the movie Restraint last night. I actually liked it, but how could I not, it had Travis Fimmel and Stephen Moyer in it.

In between school drop offs and studying for Bio Chem, I've been reading the second Hunger Games book and quilting the Kiss My Eyes quilt, which I will post when done. I'm dying to cut into my stack of Prince Charming fabric but I'll have to wait a bit longer. On the agenda tonight...resting my back and some Breaking Bad.

New Spot

It's not really 713am. Trust me, I'd be sleeping. Anyway, here's where I'll post random thoughts and things that interest and or annoy me, like...I think I may have missed the first episode of Dexter (which annoys me). I just finished the whole tv series Prison Break, and now I don't know what to do with myself. I could study Bio Chem or finish that crazy rainbow quilt thats sitting on my sewing machine...but today i just dont feel like sitting or trying to drill chemical reaction equations into my resistant brain. I guess that means  re-starting my blog. So, here it is, the anchored offshore...
